Qing Dynasty, an oval shaped bronze plaque of the commemoration of Xu Jing Cheng, relief portrait on obverse, name in Chinese on reverse, small English engraver's name C.I. Begger near the rim, well preserved and excellent engraving, extremely rare. Xu was a Chinese diplomat in late Qing Dynasty, as a modernizer and diplomat, he protested the breaches of international law in 1900 and became one of the 5 ministers executed by Empress Dowager Cixi during the Boxer Rebellion.
