Military Mail
1897 (20 Jan.) envelope from the Chief Stoker on H.M.S. 'Centurion' in Hong Kong to Brighton, England bearing pair of 1882-96 2c. carmine tied by Hong Kong code "B" c.d.s. with a second strike alongside; divided as usual across the corner and signed by the commanding officer. A little roughly opened at top, some soiling and staining (mostly confined to the reverse). Photo
The right hand 2c. stamp shows a large spot on the Queen's neck, a result of a round foreign object getting onto the printing plate; this is quite unusual on these pritings and adds appeal to this cover
