The Mercantile Bank of India, $50, specimen, 1.1.1930, brown, black and pink, sampan and boats at upper centre, '50' at each corner, reverse brown and black, Mercury at centre, 'SPECIMEN' overprinted in red, 4 hole punch cancellations,
(Pick 238s), PMG 65EPQ Gem Uncirculated. Colloquially known as the 'Banana Boat' because of the curved vignette this is a super example. Only 6 notes graded in the PMG population report and this is the second highest grade. A lovely fresh example. We sold a PMG 40 in March 2019 for HKD$384,000 inclusive of the Buyer's Premium.
