1950 (24 Jan.) to USA air mail cover, bearing Central China 1st Print Five-pointed Star $1000 (3), $500 (on the reverse), 1st print Worker-Peasant-Soldier Issue $100 and $30 (on the reverse), Chinese People's Political Conference $30, all tied by Siangtan c.d.s., on the right lower corner with handwriting " to Hong Kong by surface, and to USA by air mail" in Chinese. also with Canton transit c.d.s. (29.1) on the reverse. The New China unified international air mail service was launched in early February 1950. The local international air mail of Central and Southern China has always been a blank from both the information and the real thing. This is an example of the first discovery of local international aviation in Central South China. very rare very fine.


1950年湖南湘潭寄美國航空封1件，郵件使用航空專用信封，貼華中解放區五星圖1000元3枚，500元1枚，工農兵圖30元100元各一枚，紀1.30元1枚，信封正面右下角手寫“水陸至香港，航空香港至美國”郵路要求（用強光照射可見），使用紀1郵票覆蓋於“航空”之上，郵資共計為3660元，銷湖南湘潭1月24日戳，有廣州29日中轉戳，郵戳清晰，保存完好。新中國統一國際航空郵政業務啟辦於1950年2月初，最早之實物見有2月7日封，在此之前各郵區也曾自辦國際航空郵政業務，如西北，西南，華南等郵區均有相關地區性國際航空郵資；另有華北區曾與香港合作混貼中國和香港郵票使用分段航空形式寄海外。而此前中南郵區地方性國際航空無論從資料還是實物一直是個空白，此封為中南區地方國際航空首次發現之實例。從貼票方式來看，與之前發現華北，西南地區國際航空封類似，因此可以判斷此種各郵區地方國際航空郵件貼票方法在當時是有要求的。此批中南區地方國際航空郵資共發現3件，另有一件50年2月2日寄美國封其郵資為3650元，另一件為49年封，與此兩枚航空封郵資截然不同，由此可見中南國際航空此段郵資應為3650元，而此件應為溢資10元。此封為新中國航空郵政史郵集不可或缺之重要素材，罕見。寄信人為常德廣德醫院（今常德第一醫院）第三任院長巴天明先生，收信人是其女兒巴玉華，為美國東洛杉磯學院歷史學教授，著名湖南抗戰歷史專家，巴天明先生于1909年來華傳教，1951年回美國從此再未來過中國，1988年其兒女將夫婦骨灰安葬于常德，其女於2005年重返湖南（時年84歲），並著有《家在常德》一書。
