The Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, $10, specimen, 1.11.1923, without serial numbers, purple, black and multicolour, bank coat of arms at upper centre, sampans by pagoda at left, sailing junk boat between mountains at right, 'TEN' at lower centre, two vertical lines of hole punch cancellations, 'SPECIMEN' overprinted diagonally in red at centre,
(Pick 49s), PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated. A scarce one year subtype with the red 'TEN' underprint and the Chinese characters 'Shi' in light purple as opposed to red from 1st May 1924 onwards. True colour specimens of this series are extremely rare, let alone for a short lived sub series. A 'must have' note for any serious collectors of Hong Kong specimens.
