The Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, $5, specimen, partially printed date '19__' (type of 1911 to 1922), without serial numbers, blue on pale orange, bank coat of arms at centre, denomination at each corner, rice pounding scene at left and sampans at right, black printed manuscript signature at lower right, overprinted 'SPECIMEN' in red and also a blue circular Waterlow seal,
(Pick 41s), PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated. Extremely rare as a true colour specimen and very special given the date is partially printed. It offers evidence that the Bank considered filling in the dates by hand. The issued notes all have fully printed dates. Likely unique in this format and effectively a pattern or essay
