Amoy: 1899 (17 Aug.) envelope registered to Germany bearing C.I.P. ½c. (2), 1c., 2c., 4c., 5c. and $1 tied by Amoy bilingual c.d.s. plus large "R" with the scarce Amoy boxed registration handstamp of the Chinese Post Office alongside with manuscript date insertion, used with Hong Kong 10c. purple on red (11) cancelled by Hong Kong c.d.s. and the boxed Amoy tieprint, the reverse (flap missing) with Potsdam arrival c.d.s. (17.9). Paying $1 for a 5 ounce letter plus 10c. registration, slightly overpaid by Chinese stamps. A good high franking cover. Photo
The letter caught the P&O packet 'Parramatta' that left Hong Kong on 19th August, changing to the Oriental at Colombo and reaching Marseilles on 16th September for overland carriage to Potsdam
