(x) China, Qing Dynasty, Peking Mint, restrike silver dollar, Geng Zi (1900), "Ex-Goodman 1991 lot 398", stylised dragon in an unusual design at centre,
(LM-6A, Kann-233), uncirculated, NGC no decision, PCGS Authenticity Unverifiable. According to Kann the Peking Mint was destroyed during the Boxer Rebellion but a worker managed to preserve four master dies. These subsequently landed in the hands of a Hong Kong numismatist along with 8 sets of essay 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and $1 essay coins. Goodman added that he bought 3 sets from this Hong Kong numismatist with 2 sets been sold privately in Japan. The remaining 1 set then sold in auction with this silver dollar as part of the set.
