Min Zhong Shan Jin Bu Tang, Shansi Province, China, membership certificate, ND (circa 1937-1949), serial number 0035, uses a throwback design resembling secret society membership certificates, which were originally made to appear like traditional Chinese banknotes to look less conspicuous to casual onlookers. Min Zhong Shan Jin Bu Tang was an organisation by famous Republican China Warlord Yen Hsi-shan, which heavily borrowed elements from secret societies of the late-Qing era as a means to consolidate his military power in the Shansi region amid the Japanese invasion of China, the civil war with different factions within the Republic Government and with the Communist party. Stamped by Qi Ji Shan (an alias of Yen Hsi-shan) with Sun Yat-sen's will and testament on reverse.
