1902 (6 Aug.) envelope to Broadmoor from H.M.S. Amphitrite, uprated 4c. carmine cancelled by Registered Hong Kong c.d.s. with black on white registration label "596" alongside and London registered oval (5.9), the reverse bearing Wokingham c.d.s. (6.9); blue crayon cross, some light soiling

H.M.S. Amphitrite left Portsmouth for the China station on 6 May 1902. Arrived in Bombay on 30 June 1902, following a cruise in the Persian Gulf, during which she had made a long stop in Muscat. The largest warship thus far to visit the gulf, she drew much interest during the cruise and arrived at the station headquarters at Hong Kong on 1 August.
