1847 (10 Sept.) entire letter to Bristol "Via Southampton" written from the British Consulate in Amoy, bears a very fine strike of the crowned Paid at Hong Kong type 8 (an early date for this), "2/-" rate mark in red ink and faint London Paid c.d.s. (27.11), the flap (which opens for display) with Hong Kong (23.9) and Bristol (27.11) c.d.s. The letter is written by J. Raymond Gingell, 2nd Regt. M.N.I., who was a Chinese interpreter (with transcript). A very desirable early letter from Amoy
