1864 (6 Sept.) blue envelope to Nelson, New Zealand "Via Hong Kong" (crossed through) bearing 1862 24c. cancelled by six parallel pen strokes and showing a superb strike of the Labuan despatch c.d.s. in red, a fine strike of boxed "mis-sent to/melbourne - victoria" in blue and a part strike of Nelson arrival c.d.s. (2.12), the reverse bearing Melbourne c.d.s in blue. One of three Stafford covers from Labuan to New Zealand which were discovered in 1949. B.P.A. Certificate (2015)

The British Consul in Labuan held Hong Kong and Indian for franking letters which were to go via Hong Kong or Singapore. The Hong Kong endorsement has been crossed through suggesting that the first suitable ship was bound directly for Australia. In the normal course of events, the Hong Kong stamp would have additionally been cancelled "B62"
