1863 (26 Oct.) opened-out flimsy envelope to U.S.A. printed "per overland mail via marseilles" in a red flag with handstruck "Pr Messageries Imperialies Str 'Donnai'", "2/-" rate mark in red crayon over Hong Kong Paid c.d.s. in red, London Paid (4.12) and N.York Br. Pkt. transit, the reverse with Hong Kong code "C" despatch. French packets were authorised to carry British mail from the East at the same charge as by British packets, which became 2/- per ½ ounce. A good example of this short-lived rate (22 August 1863 to 1 November 1863)
