Privately Carried: 1860 (29 Dec.) entire letter from Albert Heard in Hong Kong to his mother in Massachusetts, rated at "1/4" in red crayon for a 1 ounce letter to Singapore, with double-oval "forwarded by/boustead & co" in red partly covered by India ½a., 1a., 4a. and 8a. cancelled by "B/172" in octagon, with Singapore c.d.s. (7.12 instead of 7.1), London Paid (12.2), "16/cents" accountancy handstamp and N.York Am. Pk. (5.3) c.d.s.; the adhesives have been creased, two being folded over the edge of the envelope. The contents of the letter are typical family matters including details of their family Christmas in Hong Kong. An unusual and rare letter from Hong Kong
