Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay, 100 pesos, uniface obverse and reverse printer's design, 1966, serial number D 0000000,
(Pick Unlisted), both graded PMG 67EPQ Superb Gem Uncirculated. An unissued design that was prepared for 'El Departamento de emission del Banco de la Republica Oriental de Uruguay'. Note this design was later used for the Banco Central de Uruguay 1966 issue which was then printed by De La Rue, while these unissued designs were printed by United States Banknote Company. A few colours have been seen for the 100 and 500 pesos, showing these are likely design proposals from USBC to win the printing contract. Unusual items providing a glimpse into the banknote production process. Important for South American banknotes specialist. (2)
