Japan, Bando Prisoner of War Camp, 1 yen, Bando, 1.7.1918, serial number 2210, green and brown, German arms at top left, iron cross at lower left,
(POW 6702), PMG 20 Very Fine, annotation. The Bando camp were established to host mainly German POW from the Siege of Tsingtao in WWI. The Siege of Tsingtao was when Anglo-Japaneses forces defeated the German Empire to capture Kiau Chau, making this the only major land battle in the Asia and Pacific region in WWI. This camp was known as to be the more humane camps with a business district and recreational facilities, famously with its own orchestra hosting regular concerts. Interesting and very rare!


1918年日本板東戰俘營1元，編號 2210，德國國徽。PMG 20，有筆註。大部分板東戰俘營為第一次世界大戰青島戰役的德國戰俘。青島戰役是日英聯軍進攻德國膠州灣殖民地，也是一戰遠東戰區唯一的陸地戰役。此戰俘營之管理相當有人性，有商業區及娛樂設施，更有自己的管弦樂團定期舉辦音樂會，趣味性十足亦非常罕見的一枚！
