Lot: 6653

China People's Republic
1952 Peaceful Liberation of Tibet (C13) undenominated die proofs (58x45mm) of ploughing with yak in brown and The Potala, Lhassa in blue, each with manuscript notation. Affixed to brown card page from the printer's reference book; also with the central design for 1951 National Emblems (S1) in black on grey and in brown on cream (these are larger than the stamp design and are not engraved proofs).

Also with banknote proofs with intaglio vignette of a male worker on a lathe machine, very likely an unadopted design for the 3rd series renminbi 2 yuan note which features a female worker instead, and intaglio print of a combine harvester, very likely an unadopted design for the 1st series renminbi 50000 yuan note. An unusual and interesting group from the People's Printing Works, Shanghai. Photo
