The Burma Route: 1903 (9 June) envelope to "France via Burma" bearing C.I.P. 10c. green tied by a fine strike of Szemao, Yunnanfu postmark with manuscript date insertion with a second strike alongside and another on the reverse along with Tengyuen dated oval (24.6) in purple; the address side with India Q.V. 2a.6p. blue tied by a fine strike of Bhamo (7.7) c.d.s. and, on the reverse, Bordeaux arrival (2.8). Other manuscript notation on both sides of the envelope. A delightful and scarce cover, approximately twenty China/India covers have been recorded. Photo

The route was on foot via very narrow mountain paths along very deep abysses and mountain passes to Burma
