Auction: 9037 - The "Pierron" Collection of British Commonwealth Missing Colours
Lot: 1713

Tristan da Cunha 1986 (21 Apr.) QE II´s 60th Birthday 25p. lower right corner block of four showing plate numbers (1B), all with silver omitted, fine. With matching corner block for comparison. Pierron TS816MCa, £1,950; S.G. 408a, £1,300. Photo Estimate £ 600-800 Note: The missing silver results in the loss of the Royal cypher and logo from the top corners of the stamp. The error is known in a top marginal 1B plate single, a top left 1C plate and traffic light single, a bottom right 1B plate and traffic light block of four, a bottom right 1D plate and traffic light single, and a right marginal traffic light single. From examples which have appeared on the market, it´s probable a printer´s sheet of 100 (four panes of 25) was originally affected.
