Hornibrook, Royal Marines, Later Controller of Prisons for Tasmania 1939-1945 Star; Atlantic Star; Burma Star; War Medal; Jubilee 1977, minor edge bruise to last, about extremely fine, together with a letter addressed to the recipient from the Royal Marines Pay and Records Office, dated 20.10.1954, confirming the Second World War awards; and two photographs of the recipient (5) Estimate £ 120-150 X1279 Marine Daniel ´Mike´ Hornibrook, born Bandon, Cork, Ireland, 17.2.1918; enlisted in the Royal Marines, 1.7.1935; and served in H.M.S. Devonshire, Dauntless, Revenge, and Vengeance; retired, 17.4.1948, and joined the Malayan Prison Service in Singapore; moved to the Tasmanian Prison Service, 1957, and appointed Deputy Governor of the notorious Campbell Street Gaol; Appointed Controller of Prisons for Tasmania, 1961; Member, Board of Inquiry into the South Australian Prison System, 1980. He died in Tasmania, 16.7.1988. Silver Jubilee Medal confirmed.
