A Great War Casualty Pair to Captain K.S. Howard, Sherwood Foresters, Killed in Action at the Second Battle of Arras, 6.10.1918 British War and Victory Medals (Capt. K.S. Howard), about extremely fine, together with a photograph of the recipient´s grave (2) Estimate £ 100-140 Captain Kenneth Salwey Howard, born Wolverhampton, December 1879, and educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School and Durham University; after graduating he worked as an Assistant Master at the Royal School, Armagh, Northern Ireland, and then as a Superintendent of the Irish Intermediate Education Board. On the outbreak of the Great War enlisted as 79 Private, Public Schools Battalion, 16th Middlesex Regiment, 5.9.1914; Commissioned Lieutenant, 4th (Extra Reserve) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment), 17.5.1915; served on the Western Front from 30.8.1918; killed in action 6.10.1918 during the Second Battle of Arras, when the Germans launched a counter attack on the Rouvroy Fresnes Line at Oppi, and is buried in Roclincourt Military Cemetery, France.
