Great Britain 1840 One Penny Black Plate Ia LE, worn impression, well clear to very large margins all round and showing a small portion of the adjoining stamp at top, tied by a fine red Maltese Cross cancellation to entire letter dated 5 June 1840 addressed to "Ewan Macdonald Esq of Glencoe care of Captain Peter Cameron Jerusalem Coffee House London", red datestamps on reverse, a tiny fault in the margin, outside the design, betwen the "o" and "n" of "one" does not detract from this major rarity.
