Great Britain 1840 Mulready Two Pence Letter sheets a95, dated 8 May 1840 and used from London to Perth, with an extremely fine red Maltese Cross cancellation, on reverse London Maltese Cross datestamp of 8 May and red arrival datestamp of 10 May (first Sunday) opening well for exhibition. A spectacular and major rarity. Despite a minor surface imperfection, the finest of the five recorded examples used on the third official day of use and one of only two recorded letter sheets used inland.
