Henry I (1100-1135), Penny, 1.38g, type VIII, Gloucester, Sawold, large crowned bust left, sceptre before, henri.rex, rev. cross pattée extending from a central annulet, a pellet with an annulet in each angle, +sawold.on.gloe: (N.864; S.1269), test cut at eight o´clock, bold bust, clear mint signature, unrecorded for this issue, attractive, good very fine, extremely rare Estimate £ 5,000-6,000 Type VIII is the rarest of the Penny issues of Henry I. This is the only known example of type VIII for Gloucester which is not recorded for this issue prior to this recently found coin.
