Sierra Leone 1897 (30 Mar.) envelope registered to France, bearing 1897 "2 1/2d." (S.G. Type 12) on 3d. dull purple on green, "2 1/2d." (S.G. Type 8) on 6d. dull purple and green and "2 1/2d." (S.G. Type 8) on 1/- dull lilac (washed) each cancelled with Freetown c.d.s., showing "R" in oval h.s., Freetown, Liverpool (16.4) and London (17.4) Registered oval d.s., all on face; the envelope with some heavy creases, all clear of the adhesives though a rare franking, the 2 1/2d. on 3d. being a scarce stamp with only one example represented in the setting of thirty, and very rare on cover.
