Sierra Leone 1884 (10 Dec.) envelope (223x101mm.) to Sherbro, bearing Revenue 5/- on 1/- green from the remainder stock though not cancelled with red ink line, neatly cancelled with "sierra leone" Code C reversed c.d.s. with a further fine strike at lower left, the reverse with "compagnie du sénégal" sender´s cachet in blue alongside a fine strike of the very rare "sherbro and sierra leone" double-arc d.s (15.12); the envelope skillfully repaired at right well clear of the stamp and of fresh and fine appearance. The sole example of this Revenue stamp without the red pen stroke used on cover, and one of only four covers recorded with the Sherbro and Sierra Leone double-arc d.s.
