Niger Coast Protectorate Old Calabar River 1894 (12 Apr.) envelope registered to Sierra Leone, bearing 1892-94 1/2d. vermilion, 2 1/2d. purple on blue, 1893 (Sept.) " 1/2d" on half 1d. lilac and 1893 (Dec.) "half/penny." (S.G. Type 9) in green on 2 1/2d. purple on blue horizontal pair (folded between), all neatly cancelled with "old calabar river" Code A c.d.s. and showing a further strike at foot, large "R" h.s. and Freetown c.d.s. (29.4), all on face; the envelope with a vertical crease clear of the adhesives and not affecting the fine appearance of this rare provisional franking. S.G. 1, 4, 7, 33.
