Niger Coast Protectorate Brass River 1898 (21 July) envelope to Funchal, Madeira, bearing Great Britain 1887-92 2 1/2d. purple on blue cancelled by red ink wavy cross and with "brass river" Code C c.d.s. at left, routed via Sierra Leone and showing, on reverse, Freetown (10.8) and Funchal (23.8) c.d.s.; an attractive and late use of a G.B. stamp, perhaps originating in the Niger Territories.
