The Royal Niger Company´s Territories 1888-99 Handstruck Stamps Lokoja "lokoja/post office" double-oval d.s. Sacher Type 13, S.G. Type 8 1899 (24 July) officer´s envelope (small faults at top) to London, marked "On Special Service No Stamps available. J.N. Howe Lt. W.A.R." and showing a partially fine strike of the datestamp, Plymouth "1d/620" tax h.s. altered to "2d" (as the letter had not been prepaid but incorrect as the letter originated from a Royal Niger Company Post Office) and with "t" at left, both in blue crayon, the reverse with Burutu boxed d.s. (Sacher Type 10) for 5 August and London c.d.s. (28.8); attractive and the earliest recorded use of the Lokoja datestamp on a cover without adhesives. Photo Estimate £ 400-500
