The Royal Niger Company´s Territories 1888-99 Handstruck Stamps Abutshi 1899 (19 Dec.) envelope to England, bearing G.B. 1881 1d. lilac pair (one with minor foxing) cancelled with a superb strike of the "the royal niger co. c.&l./customs/office/abutshi" double oval d.s. in violet (S.G. similar to Type 8, Sacher Type 14), Paid Liverpool Br. Packet c.d.s. (25.1) at left, the reverse (flap missing) with Forcados River (2.1) and Birmingham (26.1) c.d.s. Rare and most attractive. A fine and rare cover showing this short-lived handstamp.
