Liberia The Cromwell Correspondence 1879 (1 May) envelope, with enclosure headed ´U.S.S. Ticonderoga At Sea´,, to Philadelphia, endorsed "Ship Letter", with Liverpool Br. Packet c.d.s. of 25 June (on reverse), "50" in blue crayon , "t" and "due 10" handstamps on the front, on arrival taxed on the reverse by a pair of United States 1879 5c. brown Postage Dues (one slightly damaged on affixing) with Philadelphia cancellation of 6 July (which predates the current earliest documented use), fine and rare.
