Gold Coast Military and Expedition Mail 1897 (Dec.) envelope "On Act. Service. No stamps procurable. Hinterland Gold Coast C.P. Greig Lieut. 2/W.I. Regt" to France, marked with manuscript "5d" in red ink to indicate a double charge penalty and with "T" h.s. (Type C1), the cover subsequently franked with 1884-91 2 1/2d. ultramarine and orange cancelled with superb "kumasi/gold coast" double-ring d.s. (Type 6) with a further light strike below, the manuscript charge marked deleted and also showing Paid Liverpool Br. Packet c.d.s. (24.1) additionally tying the adhesive, the reverse with Cape Coast (27.12) and Parame (25.1) c.d.s.; a few small faults though a most unusual item from the hinterland. S.G. 14.
