Gold Coast Elmina 1888 (13 Feb.) right half of a blue envelope to London?, bearing 1884-91 4d. rosy mauve (2) sharing a superb strike of the rare "post office/gold coast/elmina" oval intaglio seal h.s. (Type 4) and with "elmina" Code A c.d.s. (Type 2) and two "cape coast" Code C c.d.s. (Type 2, 14.2) alongside, London c.d.s. (17.3) on reverse; an early date of use of this rare mark which is only recorded in 1888 and has been missing, on anything other than loose stamps, from many of the great Gold Coast collections.
