x Reserve Bank, a presentation book in grey cloth with brown leather title at top centre AUSTRALIAN NOTES 1966, published by the Reserve Bank . and comprising text describing the story of the decimal currency to be introduced in 1966 and the history, design, production and distribution of the issue.There are two undated (1966) specimen examples of each denomination mounted in brown card in such a fashion as to display both the obverse and reverse of the notes. The notes are the $1, serial number AAA 000000, orange, pink and brown, Elizabeth II at left, reverse Aboriginal art, the $2, serial number FAA 000000, green and pale orange, Macarthur at right, reverse green and yellow, Farrer at left, the $10, serial number SAA 000000, blue and orange, Greenway at right, reverse pale blue and orange, Henry Lawson at left, the $20, serial number XAA 000000, red and orange, Kingsford Smith at right, reverse red and yellow-orange, Hargrave at left, there is in addition the specimen $5, serial number NAA000000, issued in 1967, lilac and orange, Banks at right, reverse lilac and orange, Caroline Chisolm at left. In addition there is one specimen $50, ND (1973), serial number YAA 000000, green and brown-orange, Lord Florey at right, reverse green and brown-orange, Sir Ian Clunies Ross at left. (McDonald Mc DS 1,2,3,4,5,21), all the notes have an oval lilac SPECIMEN overstamp on the obverse and reverse except the $50 which has a red NO VALUE in field and SPECIMEN diagonally twice across the face of the note.Inside the front cover is a thank you written by Bill Wilcox and dated 14/2/66 and addressed to Monty Brown who was the Works Manager of the Reserve Bank´s printing division. There are also thanks from Russell Drysdale and Gordon Andrews as well as the signature of Lady Janet Clunies Ross,the wife of Sir Ian Clunies Ross, also included in a letter from Lady Clunies Ross addressed to Monty Brown expressing her thanks for his efforts in prducing the $50 with her husbands portrait depicted on it. There is also a photograph of the printing works with a sheet of the new issue. A lovely presentation in immaculate condition, extremely rare and desirable. Estimate £ 35,000-40,000
