Banque de Syrie et du Liban, 100 livres, 1945, serial number N.15-517, gold, red and blue, an intricate mosaic pattern, gryphon at left and right, value at centre and at each corner, signatures of Busson and Letayf, value in French, text in Arabic, reverse blue-green and multicoloured, cedar tree at right, Mount Lebanon in background (Pick 53, Ayoub p.132 and 133), printed by the Bank of France and one of the most attractive banknote designs, an iconic middle Eastern note, a solid good very fine thus above average for this extremely rare note, Ayoub estimates only about 30 examples are believed extant Estimate £ 7,000-9,000
