x Naval General Service 1793-1840, one clasp, Curacoa (Charles Fishington.), very fine Estimate £ 1,800-2,200 Charles Fishington served as Able Seaman in H.M.S. Arethusa for the capture of the strongly fortified island of Curacoa in the Dutch Antilles, 1.1.1807. The Captains of the four frigates involved (Arethusa, Anson, Fisgard and Latona) all received Small Naval Gold Medals for this action. Charles Fishington joined the Royal Navy, 1805, and was borne on the ship´´s books of H.M.S. Arethusa from July of that year; advanced to Petty Officer status when rated as Yeoman of the Powder Room, January 1813; later service included in H.M.S. Namur and H.M.S. Fly.
