Russia, Soviet Union, M.V.D. Badge for Excellent Service, with screwback suspension, silvered, gilt, and enamel, reverse un-numbered, good very fine Estimate £ 20-30 Established in 1985, and issued until the collapse of the USSR in 1991, this badge was awarded for excellent service to prison officers and other M.V.D. personnel of jails and forced labour camps. It was also issued to faculty and staff of the M.V.D. schools that trained personnel for the Soviet prison system.
