C.E.), light contact marks, generally very fine or better, scarce (4) Estimate £ 500-550 Captain Frank Ernest Willhelm Butt, born London, 1871; he was fluent in French and German; commissioned Second Lieutenant, West India Regiment, 1894; served with the regiment in operations in Sierra Leone, 1898-99; advanced Captain 1.5.1900; specially employed on the Gold Coast, 19.1.1900-26.12.1901; served as a Sapper with the Royal Canadian Engineers during the Great War.
