Mayo, 1826; enlisted in the 78th Highlanders, April 1845; served with the Persian Campaign 1857, and during the Indian Mutiny; wounded in the left foot by a ground shot at the Alum Bagh, Lucknow, 24.9.1857; discharged, April 1868, after 15 years and 347 days with the Colours, having served in India for 13 years and nine months.
