R.A.), engraved in large serif capitals, very fine Estimate £ 300-340 299 Gunner James Valentine Garrad, born Colchester, Essex, 1825; enlisted as Gunner and Driver, Royal Artillery, March 1848; served in the Crimea for 1 year and 6 months, and present at the Battles of Alma, the Heights of Balaklava, and Inkermann, and present at the Siege of Sebastopol; discharged as medically unfit, March 1856, after 8 years and 8 days with the colours.
