Woods, Royal Air Force 1939-1945 Star; France and Germany Star; War Medal, all privately engraved ´3031017 V.O. Woods R.A.F.´, extremely fine, with named condolence slip (7) Estimate £ 180-220 M.I.D. unconfirmed. 3031017 Aircraftsman Vincent Orville Woods served during the Second World War with 97 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve; killed in the crash of an Avro Lincoln whilst on exercise from Hemswell Air Station, Lincolnshire, over Mautby, 24.9.1947, when the bomber was struck by lightening and crashed to the ground, killing the entire crew of nine, and is buried in Great Yarmouth Cemetery, Norfolk.
