x Army of India 1799-1826, short hyphen reverse die type, one clasp, Capture of Deig (J. Lunn, 8th. Lt. Dragns.), officially impressed, Royal Mint, very fine Estimate £ 2,000-2,400 Corporal James Lunn, born Preston Pans c.1868, enlisted 4th Light Dragoons, September 1793; transferred 28th Light Dragoons, April 1795; 8th Light Dragoons, August 1798; served during the Second Mahratta War, with Captain Abercromby´´s Detachment, and present at the Capture of Deig, 11-23.12.1804; Corporal, September 1814; discharged, September 1817, having spent 14 years and 4 months in India, due to general disability and partial paralysis; admitted as an Out-Pensioner, Royal Hospital Chelsea. One of only 103 Capture of Deig clasps awarded to Europeans. Provenance: Murray Collection 1891 Baldwin 1934 Glendining 1969.
