His own reign came to an end in 825 when Ecgberht absorbed Kent into Wessex bringing an end to independent kingship in Kent. Including this there are 59 coins recorded for Baldred struck at Canterbury and Rochester. Of these 22 are portrait types and 37 non portrait. Dunn/Dunun is a Rochester moneyer and before this coin was found, was known only for portrait type coins as were all other Rochester moneyers, some of whom also used the ´´cross and wedges´´ reverse. Non portrait coins, but not of this design, are known for Canterbury. This is the only known example of a Rochester non portrait penny with the cross and wedges obverse and reverse.
