German States Bavaria 1859 (24 Nov.) rose Newspaper wrapper, with imprinted "pr. Prussian closed mail.", to U.S.A., bearing 1850-58 6kr. brown, Plate 2, prepaying the printed matter rate to the United States via the Anglo-Prussian and British Open Mails, tied by "28" in cog-wheel cancellation and with Augsburg datestamp alongside, the front showing Prussian "P" in circle, manuscript "Wf 1" sgr, credit to England, manuscript " 1/2" and "london" Paid datestamp, all in red, the reverse showing "leipzig/magdeb" transit and manuscript "fr1"; fine. A beautiful and remarkably rare item, being the only known Newspaper wrapper from Bavaria to the United States bearing the 1850-58 issue. M. Brettl and J. Helbig Certificates (both 2005).
