Bechuanaland 1885-87 stamps of Cape of Good Hope overprinted "British/Bechuanaland", watermark Crown CA, 1/2d. grey-black overprinted in lake, neatly cancelled with part Mafeking c.d.s.; a little soiled though of good appearance and one of the very few examples known of this exceptionally rare and much under-catalogued stamp. P.F.S.A. Certificate (2004). S.G. 1a Estimate £ 8,000-10,000 Note: Holmes states "....very few copies are known....". We can record only three used examples. One example is in the Royal Philatelic Collection, this stamp and one other held in a private collection
