Cayman Islands 1917 (4 Sept.) "war stamp/1 1/2d" on 2 1/2d. deep blue, a horizontal pair and a single, together with 1917 (26 Feb.) "war/stamp/1 1/2d" on 2 1/2d. deep blue, all neatly cancelled with "georgetown/cayman islands" double ring d.s. on 1917 (9 Oct.) envelope registered from Grand Cayman to England, showing manuscript "Grand Cayman/R2185" temporary registration mark in blue crayon and oval-framed "r" at upper left corner, the reverse with faint Jamaica registration oval d.s., London Registered oval d.s. (9.11) and Pangbourne c.d.s. (10.11); faint traces of toning on a couple of perf. tips though of little consequence. An extremely rare War Tax issue cover with only two full covers and one front believed known bearing these rare stamps, the other full cover being used out of period in 1919.
