United States of America 1856 (Dec.) yellow envelope from Philadelphia, carried to the mails by Blood´s Penny Post, bearing their 1c. bronze on lilac local label (Scott 15L14) acid tied and with "30" cent rate marking applied by the Philadelphia Exchange Office in anticipation of the Prussian Closed Mail Service, "blood´s/despatch", "philadelphia/pa" and "n.york br.pkt" datestamps, the latter with integral "23" cent debit struck out when the New York office elected to send this letter in the British Open Mails, "g.b./1f.60c" accountancy marking and "16" handstamp collected on delivery in France, fine. A rare use of a United States local stamp to an overseas destination and the only recorded example of a "three month" cover sent just prior to the 1857 United States-French Convention Estimate £ 4,000-6,000
