Cape of Good Hope 1861 (Feb.-Apr.) "Woodblock" Issue 1d. carmine, an exceptionally fresh unused example of this very rare shade with large part original gum, true deep rich colour on bright white paper, free of the usual paper inclusions, large well-balanced margins; despite a crease this stamp is in a remarkable state of preservation and one of the finest examples extant, having graced many famous collections.
