African Barter Co. Ltd., £10 shares, part paid, 187(4), signed by Lt. Col. de Ruvignes as director, black, very fine. One of the earliest companies operating in the Gold Coast presumably trading with the native tribes. Things were to change with the opening of the interior gold mines at the end of the decade. Estimate £ 50-60 Lt. Col. de Ruvignes was a long time resident of West Africa and spent much of his time hunting gorillas. He was Civil Commandant at Accra , Gold Coast
