Cook Islands 1892 small piece bearing first issue 1d. to 10d. each cancelled by boxed violet "post office/31 may92/cook islands" d.s (A1), and endorsed with manuscript message "From you brother with kind regards F.J. Moss" (the first British Resident), illustrated on p. 47 of the R.P.S.N.Z. handbook, Vol V; some foxing especially around the 10d. otherwise a scarce piece; also 1892 (26 July) large O.H.M.S envelope commercially used from Rarotonga carried on the third stamped mail voyage to Ipswich, bearing 2 1/2d. blue lightly cancelled by central violet "cook islands/p.o./ rarotonga" (A2) c.d.s.; creased vertically and apparently with a further adhesive removed.
